Stella Wells Christmas Baskets

Parsons, Ks – Needy families living within the Parsons telephone exchange area will be able to sign up for the Stella Wells Christmas Basket Program for three days only, starting today (mon.).  Individuals may apply in person at the Labette Assistance Center, 301 North 30th or call between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon through Wednesday at 421-2252 or 421-2225.

 The application deadline is December 1st.  Donations of canned goods and staples may be left at the Parsons Cablevision office, Team Bank and Country Mart.  Because of storage and distribution problems, the basket program can not accept used toys or clothing.  Last year 685 baskets were filled.  It takes a lots of money and contributions of canned goods to provide for this many families so all donations are appreciated. 

Monetary contributions may be sent to Norma Jean Hendricks, 423 Parkway in Parsons.  Please make checks payable to Stella Wells Baskets.  Volunteers are needed to help sort groceries and pack boxes, starting December 12th AT the old Sutherland Lumber Company in the Belmont Square Area. 

Volunteers will also be needed to help with delivery on December 17th.  Baskets will be delivered or can be picked up that day at the old lumber company location.  Delivery hours will be 8 -11:30 a.m..  Recipients must be home during the designated time to receive a basket.   Pick-up hours are scheduled from 9:30 – 11 a.m..
