October 2, 2020 – Amid these still-difficult times, I have been thinking about all that is coming at us right now as a society. We are still dealing with COVID-19, the forthcoming election is next month, our country is full of social unrest and we struggle with our other day-to-day worries. Whew!
It’s time to take a break.
Instead of focusing so much on things that cause us worry and frustration, let’s take time to smile. We need to look for things in life that make us smile. We need to share a smile with someone else. Take a moment right now to think about a memory that makes you happy. Look around at our beautiful fall weather and how the leaves are changing colors--a miracle of nature in itself. Take a moment to appreciate someone who has been kind to you. Or, just smile and see if that doesn’t make you feel better.
Our health is not only comprised of our physical bodies; it also encompasses our mental and emotional selves. Our lives can get crazy and we cannot always control that. But we can enjoy and savor the moments that cause us to smile. We all just need to do that more often, so that we don’t let the stresses of life get to us. Share a smile with someone today!
