KanCare meeting in Wichita cancelled
Topeka, Ks (KHI News Service) - The KanCare provider meetings previously scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in Dodge City, Hays and Wichita have been cancelled due to the weather. But according to KHI News Service, state officials said three other meetings later this week in Topeka, Parsons and Olathe are still on the calendar. The meeting for Southeast Kansas will be conducted Thursday at the Parsons State Hospital Recreation Building Auditorium at 2601 Gabriel.
Each of the sessions, scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon, provides an opportunity for the state's Medicaid providers to ask questions about KanCare, Gov. Sam Brownback's remake of the medical assistance program launched Jan. 1. Officials from the state and the three KanCare managed care companies are expected to be available at the meetings. The KanCare companies are UnitedHealthcare, Amerigroup and Sunflower State Health Plan, a subsidiary of Centene. In a related weather development, the Kansas Legislature is scheduled to being its business today (Tues.) two hours later than usual due to a snowstorm forecast for northeast Kansas.
