Town Hall Meetings on State Budget Issues

Topeka, Ks -  A series of townhall meetings on how state budget issues are affecting Kansas residents will be held in November.  Sessions are being organized by The Big Tent Coalition, which believes in enhancing choices for home and community-based services for disabled and elderly, which has teamed up with Kansans for Quality Communities, a group  of organizations representing education, health care, people with disabilities and state workers working to keep Kansas communities strong and healthy. Both coalitions represent Kansans who believe that the quality of our communities is at risk of being lowered if our state budget is cut any further than it already has been. These groups are urging legislators to value the quality services in our state and develop the budget accordingly—for both FY 2013 and FY 2014.  The first townhall meeting is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. November 8th at the south High School Commons Area in Salina.  The next session will be conducted at 5 p.m., November 9th at the Carnegie Building in Lawrence.  A town hall meeting for Southeast Kansas will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. November 10th in Rooms 6 & 7 of the Pittsburg Auditorium.  A session in planned at 3:30 p.m. November 29th in Wichita at a location to be determined.  Individuals requiring reasonable accommodations should contact Sheli Sweeney at 785-234-4773 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
