2012 Medicare Enrollment

Washington, DC – Enrollment for 2012 Medicare Coverage officially gets underway Saturday and will continue for a full seven weeks, ending December 7th.  Plan costs and coverage change each year, so all people with Medicare should check to make sure their plan still meets their health needs and budget.  A Medicare Plan Finder is available on line at www.medicare.gov to compare the cost ranges for plans available locally and to identify drugs that may or may not be covered.  People who are eligible to enroll, need to do so at their first opportunity to avoid late-enrollment penalties.  Individuals needing assistance, may call 1-800-MEDICARE or contact the SKIL Resource Center, based in Parsons, which is a Medicare Community Partner, by calling 620-421-5502.  To find out about Federal assistance with premiums for income eligible Medicare recipients, contact Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas or SHICK by calling 800-860-5260.
