More Food Pantries

Labette County, Ks – On Wednesday, KLKC radio provided information about six food pantries in Labette County.  We have two more locations to add to the list.  Virginia Davis of Chetopa administers the food bank in her community on behalf of the local Ministerial Alliance.  Applications are available at the Chetopa City office, located at 4th & Maple.  Orders are filled and then distributed on the 2nd Monday of the Month at the Chetopa Community Center at 1st & Maple.  Area residents are asked to only apply every other month.

Commodities are distributed at the same location on the 3rd Wednesday of the month for residents of Chetopa & Oswego.  The Living Hope Church at 400 North 32nd Street in Parsons purchases non-perishable and frozen foods from the Food Bank of Kansas and also accepts donations.  Distribution of food for people in the Parsons area is conducted on the 2nd Monday of the month from 6-7 p.m..  According to Jackie Sexton, some paperwork needs to be filled out, but there are no income guidelines.  This past Monday, 71 people were served.  She noted the church will be involved with the Toys for Tots program in about a month.  Information about all eight food pantries is available under the Latest Events feature located on the right side of the Home Page at
