Mark SchlesenerMark Schlesener the Finance Manager for SKIL Resource Center works with accounts receivable, accounts payable as well as the fiscal agent program. Mark explains some of the details about the SKIL Fiscal agent process. SKIL processes 2000 payroll checks. One of the new and innovative features with the fiscal agent services relate to the direct deposit option.

Personal Care attendants can begin using this direct deposit process with any bank account or use a card of their choice. This option is available to any individual regardless of where they live or work in the state. All the person needs is their routing number and account number. By furnishing these SKIL can direct deposit your payroll into your account.

“This alleviates any of the timing issues that might possibly take place with the Postal Service.” Mark explained. “Some of the attendants are using a debit card.” This card can then be used at a person’s favorite restaurant, gas station, or local store just like cash. The card is not issued from SKIL but rather SKIL works with any card that has a routing number and account number available. Call 800-688-5616 for more information on direct deposit.

Mark shared an easy way to use the direct deposit, “We even have had people who have their taxes done with Jackson Hewitt, or H&R Block and they will have their refund given to them on a debit card. If there is a 1-800 number you can call and come up with a routing number and account number we can go ahead and use that same card.”

Some of the advantages of transferring funds electronically verses paper includes; “just besides the timeliness, we don’t have any lost checks, you don’t have to be in procession of the paper check to get it to your house.” Additional advantages occur as a result of being able to access the funds drawn on the local bank in Southeast Kansas anywhere in the state. Often a person will have charges attached when they cash their check in areas outside of the local banks area. Being able to use direct deposit puts all the funds in the person’s account.
